BROKEN BONES is a project Andrew started in late 2011 with photographer Koury Angelo. Both frustrated at the lack of striking and absorbing live music photography, it was a reaction to the subject’s decline, most notable at the hands of music magazines going online and accepting cell phone photography and low quality, unedited images (often running up to 30 – 40 images in order to beat out other bloggers for morning reading). Andrew and Koury established the project as an ongoing web gallery / site, printed zine and bi-annual exhibition. Accepting no more than an edit of six documentary shots per featured article, photographers are encouraged to really see their work and create an energetic and artistic documentation of a show, with a small, but growing group of contributors.
